Karen's Top Ten lonelygirl15 Videos

After I quickly settled on the top four, this one was a challenge.
Note- I included only canon videos from the original "lonelygirl15" series.
10.) "Handcuffed"
Season 3/Starring: Jackson Davis and Amanda Goodfried/Written By: Tom Pettit, Blair Singer, Jim Campolongo, and Amanda Goodfried
One of the darkest and most violent videos in the series, and definitely one of the most controversial. The video features Jonas beating up a handcuffed Lucy in hopes of getting information (and probably revenge). Some fans were appalled by the violence, despite Lucy's continued attempts to kill Jonas and TAAG. The video is wonderfully shot and acted, and though it's definitely hard to watch if you're a Lucy fan (like myself), it's the only one that gives us a look at who she really is, if only for a moment.
9.) "10:00 AM"
Season 3/Starring: Yousef Abu-Taleb/Written By: Tom Pettit, Blair Singer, Jim Campolongo, Amanda Goodfried, Miles Beckett, and Joshua Hale Fialkov
Sometimes you have to laugh so you don't cry. And sometimes you just have to walk away. This is when Daniel does both. He recaps just how ridiculous the whole thing is, and vows to walk away if he can only survive the day. As a viewer, your heart goes out for him, not only because he's such a beloved character, but also because of how long he has stuck around and fought a battle he didn't ask for. He's earned a chance at a normal life, and he finally gets to have one. At least for a little while.
8.) "Poor Pluto"
Season 1/Starring: Jessica Rose/Written By: Mesh Flinders, Miles Beckett, Greg Goodfried, and Amanda Goodfried
I seem to like this video more than others do. It starts out as an amusing but normal "Proving Science Wrong" segment where Bree talks about the recently-demoted-to-not-a-planet Pluto and helps Pluto adjust. Then it takes a serious turn where she shares a personal story about her time in public school. The line "That's when I stopped asking questions about stars" never fails to tug at my heartstrings.
7.) "Gemma [Part IV]"
Season 1/Written By: Glenn Rubenstein
Basically a music video about how Gemma is a traitor and setting up her assassination in "Gemma [Part V]", complete with a great song. "Part V" is the one everyone remembers, but this is the one I keep rewatching.
6.) "What Up Blogosphere!"
Season 1/Starring: Maxwell Glick/Written By: Miles Beckett, Mesh Flinders, Greg Goodfried, Jan Libby, Ross Berger, and Jake Coburn
Oh, Spencer. This is the introduction video of Spencer Gilman, who would become one of "lonelygirl15"'s most popular character's. Once he actually gets the camera set up, we learn that: first, he really likes the colors brown and green, B.) he has a "dry wit", 3.) he has no idea what the hell you crazy people are talking about, and D.) he is charming and adorable, and probably the most normal person that will ever appear in the series.
5.) "Proving Science Wrong... with Lonelybeast and Danielgirl15"
Season 1/Starring: Jessica Rose and Yousef Abu-Taleb/Written By: Mesh Flinders and Miles Beckett
It's just goofy fun. Classic LG15. Seeing Daniel wearing a pink boa and Bree's background reactions are well worth the price of admission.
4.) "I hAtE tHeSe PeOpLe"
Season 1/Starring: Jessica Rose/Written By: Miles Beckett, Mesh Flinders, Greg Goodfried, Jan Libby, Ross Berger, and Jake Coburn
The decision to give a brainwashed Bree a camera and internet access is probably not Daniel and Jonas's proudest moment. But it can be forgiven, because it gave us this video. One of the darkest moments in the series and in Bree's life, it's heartbreaking as a fan to watch her struggle between her religion and the memories that keep popping up. It's all the more painful to look back at now, knowing that we would never get her back.
(Jessica Rose named this as one of her favorite videos.)
3.) "Sister to Sister"
Season 2/Starring; Alexandra Dreyfus and Becki Kregoski/Written By: Miles Beckett, Mesh Flinders, Greg Goodfried, and Jan Libby
One of the saddest and most touching videos in the series, especially in retrospect. It's exactly what it claims to be- a heart-to-heart talk between sisters Taylor and Sarah, as Sarah struggles with her conscience and trying to figure out who she is and what she wants. It gives us a glimpse into a character that could be very polarizing, and showed us her softer side. I personally went back and forth on Sarah a few times during the series, but this video remains one of my absolute favorites.
2.) "Grillz feat. Danielbeast, LG15, P. Monkey, and O'n"
Season 1/Starring: Jessica Rose and Yousef Abu-Taleb
One of the earliest videos in the series, and a perennial fan favorite. (And cast favorite. Yousef Abu-Taleb named this as his favorite video.) It's not complicated at all. Just Bree and Daniel lip-syncing to "Grillz" with some backup from P. Monkey and Owen. It's just two friends being goofy, and it's a joy to watch.
1.) "The Human Ransom"
Season 1/Starring: Jessica Rose, Yousef Abu-Taleb, Jackson Davis, and Amanda Goodfried/Written By: Miles Beckett, Mesh Flinders, Greg Goodfried, and Glenn Rubenstein
Yep. It's still awesome.
"The Human Ransom" has a deserved reputation as a classic part of LG15 canon, for a few reasons. It's one of the first crossover videos, bringing Tachyon in from the OpAphid ARG. It's beautifully shot in both the LG15 and Tachyon styles. And finally, it's a victory for the good guys. This is the first time we see TAAG taking an active role in fighting the Order, and they succeed. And it's always good to see the heroes win one.
Honorable Mention- "My Parents...Let Us Go Hiking!!!"- Not really an important or groundbreaking video. Just a nice, happy one. A love letter, in a way, from Daniel to Bree, and a reminder of how simple everything used to be.
Honorable Mention- "The Bree Solution"- Also known as "MaxterBexter: Take One". This video features resident science nerds Spencer and Taylor bonding while trying to help Bree. Besides the necessary plot, it was the first video to highlight the great chemistry between Maxwell Glick and Becki Kregoski, and is responsible for creating more than a few Spencer/Taylor shippers.
Honorable Mention- "lonelygirl15 Season Finale 5 of 12 - 12 pm"- A Crowning Moment of Awesome for investigative reporter Nikki Bower. With the help of a fan, she disarms and captures a Watcher and saves TAAG's lives. This video is the first time she appeared in the series proper, apparently making her a canon character. It also gives us one of the most memorable shots of the series, as the group walks out of the warehouse and into the sun.
